Terms and Conditions of Step into Dance
Definitions
“Step into Dance” represents a creative partnership between Royal Academy of Dance and The Jack Petchey Foundation.
“School” depicts the organisation which has signed up to participate on Step into Dance and receive weekly classes.
“Teacher” means the Step into Dance representative at the participating school.
“Freelance Dance Teacher” means the teacher contracted to deliver dance classes at participating schools.
Schools:
- Must ensure that a teacher from the school is present at all times.
- Must ensure that a qualified First Aider is available at all times.
- Must ensure that the dance space is clean and hazard free.
- Must provide the Freelance Dance Teacher with key school policies and procedures which will affect the dance teacher e.g. child protection policy.
Teachers:
- Must ensure that that all participants have completed and returned a Student Registration form.
- Must ensure that a weekly register of students is taken and recorded.
- Must dismiss at the end of class.
- Must provide information and support for students with SEN, EAL, or disability.
- Must provide regular feedback to the Freelance Dance Teacher.
- Must report any problems or concerns to the Community Dance Manager.
- Contribute to simple evaluation procedures for both the Jack Petchey Foundation and the Royal Academy of Dance.
Freelance Dance Teachers will:
- Plan, deliver and evaluate dance lessons in negotiation with the school teachers and Project Manager.
- Report any problems or concerns to the Project Manager.
- Differentiate teaching to allow all to achieve.
- Ensure that they are aware of the key school policies and procedures which will affect the dance teacher e.g. child protection policy, behaviour policy.
- Operate in line with the Royal Academy of Dance Code of Conduct and Professional Practice and safe practices according to Health & Safety legislation.
- Liaise with school teachers regarding support for students with SEN, EAL, or disability.
- Contribute to simple evaluation procedures for both the Jack Petchey Foundation and the Royal Academy of Dance.
